I am glad to see that Taco Tico is back in the south end of Louisville. My family went in on a Saturday evening which happened to be Karaoke night. The house was full and the atmosphere was certainly abuzz with folks having a good time. Taco Tico doesn't serve alcohol, so this was a great alternative to a typical bar Karaoke scene. In fact, it was a great mix of kids and adults who went up to the mic for their chance in the spotlight. A fun family night, all for the price of a few delicious (and inexpensive) burritos.
The menu was what you'd expect from a fast-food Mexican restaurant. Lots of choices, and all at very reasonable prices. My family is vegetarian, so we purchased bean burritos and cheese quesadillas. Both were good, though I didn't ask about lard in the beans (if you're a fellow vegetarian who avoids such ingredients, you might want to ask before consuming). We also ordered chips with queso, and unfortunately the cheese seemed to come squirted from one of those ball-park type nacho machines. Other than that, we enjoyed the food.
All of the staff was friendly (including the DJ) and upon leaving the owners were walking around to each table and thanking everyone for coming out for the evening. That's the kind of great customer service that will lead us back to Taco Tico. -

Not what I expected. The enchilada was dry, they gave me 3 tortilla chips a scoop of beans and a scoop of rice. Better off at Taco Bell

One of my favorite things about this place is that it's a step up from Taco Bell but a step down from a traditional Mexican joint. This is fast food without the commercial gloss. It's pretty basic offerings: tacos, burritos, tostadas. But they're tasty and they're cheap. The wide variety of sauces are a welcome feature though the Ghost Pepper sauce fell short of the heat I'd hoped for. This is a perfect spot for lunch but would be amazing after a few beers.

To me Taco Tico is in its own category, and therefore should not be compared to traditional Mexican restaurants. It's definitely not gourmet food, it's a Mexican America style fast food. With that in mind, I give it 5 stars, because it's one of those places that once you develop a taste for the food, you crave it. I have lived outside of Louisville several times throughout my life and when I did, Taco Tico was always on my "must go to" list when I would visit home. All I can say is give it a try and see if you like it. I love the enchilada supreme, hard Shell tacos and loaded nachos!!!

This is the best taco spot around! My favorite, by far. I come here at least once a week. And the prices are very fare.
